Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur lays foundation stone for drinking water project in Yadgir

Yadgir city to receive continuous potable drinking water from Bhima River project, benefiting all 31 wards soon.
Yadgir city will get potable drinking water continuously as initiatives have been taken up to implement a project to draw water from the Bhima river for the supply of drinking water, Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises Sharanabasappa Darshanapur has said. He was addressing a public gathering after laying the foundation stone for a drinking water project from the Bhima River in Yadgir on Monday.
The project is implemented at a cost of ₹53.16 crore under the centrally sponsored Amrit 2.0 scheme.
“The project to provide drinking water to the city was a long-pending demand. The project now has administrative approval. All 31 wards will get potable water shortly,” Mr. Darshanapur said.
Under the project, new pipelines will be laid based on the water pressure. The city has been divided into six ranges to supply water, and the work to construct a water purification unit near the Bhima River is at the final stage. Under the project an overhead tank with a water storage capacity of 7.50 lakh litres will also be constructed.
Mr. Darshnapur said that other cities like Shahapur and Shorapur will also get drinking water at the earliest, as the project for the purpose in Shorapur was completed while it is underway in Shahapur.
Channareddy Patil, Tunnur MLA, who presided over the programme, said the dream of having a drinking water supply project will come into reality shortly and citizens will get water five days a week.
