Kerala State Legal Services Authority launches online filing for Lok Adalats, promoting justice and dispute resolution through technology.
An online filing and hearing facility for Permanent Lok Adalats was launched in the State to bridge the justice gap, especially for marginalised communities, with the support of technology.
Lok Adalat is an alternative dispute resolution platform through which disputes are amicably settled. Currently, Permanent Lok Adalats are held in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.
The online platform, an initiative of the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA), will help the applicants file their cases online from anywhere in the State, thereby saving time, resources, and effort. The facility will be available at the e-Sewa Kendras, as well as at district and taluk-level legal services authorities, according to the organisers. Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar inaugurated the facility the other day.
Kelsa also launched Athigeevanam, an interventional scheme for the victims of natural disasters and Samayam, a scheme for the peaceful and amicable settlement of civil, quasi-civil and compoundable criminal matters that come up before police stations. Samanvaya, a counselling mechanism for redressal of matrimonial and domestic disputes was also launched.
A short film, Arike, aimed at creating awareness on domestic violence was also launched. The film is a joint venture of the Authority and the Government Law College, Ernakulam.
