Anjuman-e-Islam members protest terror attack in Pahalgam, demand strong action for peace in Kashmir.
Condemning the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir that left tourists dead, members of Anjuman-e-Islam of both Dharwad and Hubballi staged protests and submitted memoranda demanding stringent action against those involved in the heinous crime.
In Dharwad, president of Anjuman-e-Islam Ismail Tamatgar led a silent protest against the terror attack.
Wearing black arm bands, the office-bearers and members of the representative Muslim organisation staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday and condemned in strong terms the terror attack.
They demanded that the Union government take strong action against the terror outfit and thereby, ensure reestablishment of peace in the Kashmir valley. They urged the government not to spare anyone involved in the heinous crime. They said that such acts should be dealt with seriously and a befitting reply should be given to the perpetrators. They subsequently submitted a memorandum addressed to the President to the district authorities.
In Hubballi, president of Hubballi Anjuman-e-Islam and former Minister A.M. Hindasageri and other office-bearers of the organisation led the demonstration held in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha.
Addressing the protestors, Mr. Hindasageri said that such acts of terror are aimed at disturbing the bonhomie between Hindus and Muslims living in the country. The terrorists who killed the Indians should be shot dead, he demanded.
Raising slogans, the protestors demanded stringent action against the terrorists and condemned the terror act in strong words. Later, they submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister to the Hubballi tahsildar.
