Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to attend two-day Chintan Shivir on Social Justice and Empowerment in Uttarakhand.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar will leave for Uttarakhand on Saturday afternoon to attend a two-day Chintan Shivir on Social Justice and Empowerment being held in Dehradun from April 7 to 8.
The national-level conference, convened under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar, will witness the participation of Ministers handling Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes welfare from various States.
Minister Ponnam is scheduled to address the gathering on key welfare and development initiatives being undertaken by the Backward Classes Welfare department in Telangana under the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. His presentation likely to cover issues, including the implementation of welfare schemes, the demand for a nationwide caste census, and the efforts to offer 42% reservation for BCs in political and educational fields undertaken by them.
The Chintan Shivir will deliberate on collaborative efforts between the State and Centre and review the implementation of welfare laws and schemes. The agenda includes discussions on the welfare of marginalised sections including SCs, STs, BCs, economically weaker sections, senior citizens, transgender persons, drug abuse victims, nomadic tribes, beggars, manual scavengers and persons with disabilities (PWD).
