Stressing the need to maintain coordination with the alliance partner, BJP, on the floor of the House, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel and Janata Dal (S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday told legislators to question the government on the improper implementation of guarantees and the taxes being raised to fund them.
Participating in the JD (S) Legislature Party meeting, chaired by JD(S)LP leader C.B. Suresh Babu here on Sunday, he said that the House business should not be affected with unnecessary issues raised without documents.
He said that the Congress had taken mileage from the guarantee schemes rather than implementing it well. He pointed out that by releasing three to four months’ dues towards Gruha Lakshmi ahead of elections, it took political advantage and alleged that the “government is committing fraud on people.”
He asked legislators to question the government on the implementation of guarantee schemes, how the taxes were being raised and how it was being used on guarantees.
He also asked legislators to raise the issue of ₹5,000 crore announced for development of Kalyana Karnataka region. Though government had announced that an action plan would be formulated, it was yet to announce it, he added.
Mr. Kumaraswamy also told legislators to question the government over the hike in excise duty four times.
