Telangana government aims to train 2 lakh AI engineers, establish AI University, and promote industrial development in the state.
Telangana government is pursuing an ambitious goal of training two lakh Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineers, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Monday (April 7, 2025).
Mentioning this during the interaction with a delegation led by Singapore Consul General Edgar Pang that called on him at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad, the Minister said the government’s emphasis is on equipping the State’s youth with skills required to seize employment opportunities in the emerging technologies space.
He also outlined the initiatives being undertaken to position Telangana as a hub for emerging technologies, the Minister’s office said in a release.
Mr. Sridhar Babu also shared details about the Future City project proposed by the State government, near Hyderabad, and to be developed to global standards. AI University will be established within it. Several international organizations have expressed interest in partnering in the Future City initiative.
The Minister elaborated on the steps being taken to promote industrial development across the State, particularly how the government is encouraging establishment of industries beyond Hyderabad, particularly in tier II cities like Warangal and Karimnagar.
Hyderabad is evolving into a hub for global capability centres, he said, noting that in just the past year, around 70 GCCs related to IT, hospitality and other sectors have been set up.
The Minister urged the visiting delegation to help spread awareness among local industrialists about the advantages Telangana offers for setting up industries. He reaffirmed the State’s readiness to collaborate with the Singapore government in areas such as technology, skill development and other sectors. The meeting was attended by Consul Vaishnavi Vasudevan and First Secretary (Economic) Vivek Raghu Raman among others, the office said.
