Theatre festival to mark Kuvempu birth anniversary in Shivamogga

Kuvempu, a renowned poet, had a remarkable influence on Kannada literary and the cultural world in the 20th century.
Hongirana, a theatre troupe in Shivamogga, will hold a three-day theatre festival at Kuvempu Ranga Mandira Shivamogga from December 27 to mark the birth anniversary of poet Kuvempu.
The troupe will stage the plays Ravana Darshanam, based on Kuvempu’s Sri Ramayanadarshanam, Bommanahalli Kindari Jogi and Nanna Gopala.
Ravana Darshanam, for which Dr. Rajappa Dalwai did the script, and Nanna Gopala, have been directed by Sasvehalli Sathish while Bommanahalli Kindari Jogi has been directed by Shruthi Adarsha.
Sasvehalli Sathish of Hongirana, in a press conference in Shivamogga on December 25, appealed to theatre-lovers to watch the plays along with children.
The plays were chosen to mark the birth anniversary of Kuvempu, a renowned poet, who had a remarkable influence on Kannada literary and the cultural world in the 20th century.
The shows begin at 6.30 p.m on all three days. Entry tickets for all three plays cost ₹100, and tickets for individual plays cost ₹50 per person.
