DRM inspects rectification works on new Pamban Railway Bridge

Railway officials led by DRM inspect Pamban Railway Bridge for compliance with CRS observations, aiming for completion in 10 days.
A team of railway officials from Madurai Division, led by Divisional Railway Manager, Sharad Srivastava, inspected the newly-built Pamban Railway Bridge on Wednesday.
The DRM said that he had inspected the works in progress being carried out to comply with certain observations made by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, A.M. Chowdhary, during his statutory inspection conducted on November 13 and 14.
In his authorisation letter, the CRS had said that the Madurai divisional railway must get the entire track of the 2-km-long new Pamban railway bridge resurveyed for certain deficiencies and get them rectified.
Mr. Chowdhary had also made it clear that only after certification by the DRM with regard to the deficiencies pointed out by him, train services shall be allowed.
Major issues among the deficiencies pointed out by the CRS was improper alignment of the track which was observed during the speed trial. He had also indicated hanging of hook bolts and excess gap between free rail joints.
The compliance works are expected to be completed in another 10 days.
