The Government of Andhra Pradesh will be providing holistic progress cards to the students of State-run schools, which will also contain the health status of the pupils, says Minister for Human Resources Development N. Lokesh.
Participating in the Parents-Teachers’ Meeting conducted at the Bapatla Municipal High School on December 7, 2024 (Saturday), Mr. Lokesh said the Health Department would conduct medical check-up for the students at regular interval and include the reports in the progress cards.
“This will help the parents and teachers know about the health status of the students. If needed, medicines too will be given to the students,” he said.
Stating that parents-teachers’ meetings would be conducted everywhere, but the meetings organised across the State were a record, for they were the largest and well-attended, he claimed.
Parents-Teachers’ Meetings (PTM) were conducted in 45,094 government and aided schools across the State. About 35 lakh students, 71 lakh parents, 1,88,266 teachers and more than 50,000 public representatives participated.
“With these meetings, a spiritual bond has been forged between the schools and parents. It paves the way for a golden future for the students. Through the meetings, the problems being faced in schools will be known. Parents will come to know how their children are studying. We will be providing holistic progress cards to the students. We will conduct some tests in collaboration with the Health Department and include the report in the progress cards,” Mr. Lokesh said.
Stating that the government removed the non-teaching workload from the teachers, Mr. Lokesh said vacant posts would be filled through a mega DSC in six months.
