On the Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road, illegal parking persists

Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road issues: Traffic congestion, illegal parking, and pollution in Chitlapakkam lake addressed by concerned citizens.
The Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road connects Rajiv Gandhi Salai, the Information Technology Corridor, with the GST Road. Several companies have opened their office on this road. Vehicles visiting some of these companies are parked on the road margins and on the service roads. This defeats the Highways Department’s efforts to widen the road.
As colleges and schools are located on the road, buses parked on the roadside cause traffic bottlenecks at peak hours. The Tambaram Traffic Police should take measures to end this problem.

A senior police officer says patrol vehicles are removing vehicles parked on the service roads and steps would be taken to impound such vehicles.
Of late, sewage and other wastewater is being let into the sprawling Chitlapakkam lake through the storm water drain network. Civic officials are not taking any step to prevent the pollution. The Water Resources Department had spent a huge sum on renovation of the lake and built a compound wall and a play area for children, and laid a pathway for pedestrians. The discharge of sewage would not only damage the waterbody but would also pollute the groundwater in the area.
