Former MLA A. Pradeepkumar of Kozhikode North to be honored by IIA for innovative architectural projects in Kerala.
Former MLA of Kozhikode North A. Pradeepkumar has been selected for an honorary fellowship of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA). He will be honoured during the IIA National Council meeting to be held in Bhopal on April 11.
Mr. Pradeepkumar is arguably the first politician—and the first person in any category—from Kerala to be selected for the honorary fellowship of the IIA. He is being honoured for the dream projects he brought to Kozhikode with the support of architects under the IIA during his tenure as MLA of Kozhikode North. The PRISM project, the changes it brought to the education sector, and the incorporation of architecture into the design have been taken into consideration.
Several schools in the city got a new lease of life as part of the PRISM initiative. In addition, the Samudra Auditorium on Bhatt Road Beach and the Freedom Square on Kozhikode Beach are among the other projects he executed. The architects associated with the IIA had designed these structures free of cost. The designs of the Government Higher Secondary School, Karaparamba, the Freedom Square, and the Samudra Auditorium have also won several architecture awards.
