
In poll-bound Bihar, State Cabinet approves 27,370 government jobs

Bihar Cabinet approves recruitment for over 27,000 government posts, including health, education, and clerical positions.
Ahead of the Bihar Assembly election due later this year, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Cabinet on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) gave its nod for recruitment to 27,370 posts in various government departments. The Health Department will have the maximum recruitment at over 20,000 posts.
“The State Health Department’s proposal for the constitution of a ‘Public Health Cadre’ and a ‘Hospital Management Cadre’ for filling up 20,016 posts in different categories has been approved,” S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, said in a briefing.
The creation of 3,306 ‘Assistant Urdu Translator’ posts the State has also been approved, Mr. Siddharth said, to be filled in accordance with the Bihar Rajya Urdu Anuwadak Samvarg Niyamawali (Bihar State Urdu Translator Cadre Rules), 2016. Urdu translators will be deployed in different government offices across districts, sub-divisions, blocks, and circles.

In another important decision, 2,590 posts have been created in the clerical cadre in the Department of Agriculture.
The Department of Prohibition, Excise and Registration’s proposal for setting up a new ‘Excise Chemical Laboratory’ in each of the six districts of Rohtas, Aurangabad, West Champaran, Begusarai, Kishanganj, and Gopalganj has been approved, with 48 new posts in different categories created for the purpose.
“The Cabinet also approved the proposals of the General Administration Department to create 35 posts of data entry operators for the Bihar Staff Selection Commission. Apart from this, 36 different posts of gazetted and non-gazetted cadre have been created for the smooth running of a 50-bed integrated Ayush hospital at Patna,” Mr. Siddharth said.
