Enhanced crowd management measures implemented at East Coast Railway stations for Sankranti with special trains and passenger assistance.
Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has initiated measures for enhanced crowd management at all its major railway stations ahead of Sankranti.
Additional ticket counters, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and enquiry counters were set up as part of the special measures to assist the passengers. Catering services and drinking water facilities were made available to ensure passenger comfort, said the officials on Sunday, January 12.
Special trains are being operated, and existing trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, have been augmented with extra coaches.
Frequent train enquiry and announcement systems are in place, and updated information is prominently displayed on boards throughout the station.
Special teams comprising RPF and the Commercial Department of Indian Railways have been deployed to monitor trains onboard effectively.
Senior Divisional Commerical Manager K. Sandeep appealed to passengers to adopt safe journey practices and avoid footboard travel, crossing the tracks to board trains from the other side of platforms, pulling alarm chains to stop trains without a valid reason, boarding compartments designated for ladies, Divyangjan, etc. They are also requested to cooperate with the railway administration for effective crowd management and better service during the busy season.
