Chief Minister Siddaramaiah vows strict action against animal torture in Bengaluru, addresses pro-Hindutva objections and caste census concerns.

Responding to media queries on the torture of animals in Chamarajpet in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that he has directed the Police Commissioner concerned to take stringent action against the perpetrators of violence against animals in that city.

Speaking to media persons at Hagari Bommananahalli in Vijayanagara district on Sunday, Mr. Siddaramaiah held that the violence against animals is illegal and that legal action will be taken against the offenders.

When asked about the resistance posed by pro-Hindutva organisations on the issue, the Chief Minister said that their objections are politically motivated.

“I have talked to the Police Commissioner and directed him to take stringent action. We don’t know who did it. The police will find the culprits and bring them to justice,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said.

To a question on two major communities opposing caste census, the Chief Minister said that the government has spent a huge sum of money on the survey and the report will be discussed in the Cabinet.

“When a decision is taken about crucial issues like caste census or reservations, it is very common to have a difference of opinion. The government has spent over ₹160 crore for the survey which report has already been submitted to the government. The report will be placed before the Cabinet for further course of action,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
