
Power Minister reviews action plan as Delhi gears up for summer

Delhi Power Minister directs officials to repair power grid failures within 5 minutes and remove unauthorized cables for uninterrupted supply.
Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood on Sunday asked officials of the department to ensure that if any power grid fails, its repairs must be completed within a maximum of five minutes.
He gave the direction at a meeting to review the Summer Action Plan to supply uninterrupted power. He also instructed the officials to remove unauthorised overhead cables from all parts of the city to ensure seamless supply during the summer.
“The repair of any power grid failure must be completed within a maximum of five minutes,” Mr. Sood told officials.
“Remove any unauthorised cables or wires from electricity poles to ensure that the load is reduced from the poles and the mess of tangled wires is eliminated,” he said.
He said the review meetings of the Power Department will be held every 15 days to check the progress on decisions taken and their implementation.
According to an official, all stakeholders, including senior officials of the Power Department and discoms, were present at the review meeting.
The Power Department and all stakeholders were instructed to take immediate and effective measures to maintain stable electricity supply.
