Over 3,000 athletes to take part in State Games in Mangaluru, Udupi

3,247 athletes and 599 officials to participate in 23 sports events at State Games in Mangaluru and Udupi.
As many as 3,247 athletes and 599 officials will take part in 23 sports events of the State Games, which will be held in Mangaluru and Udupi between January 17 and 23. The State Games is organised jointly by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Karnataka Olympics Association, and Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations.
In Mangaluiru the events will be held at Mangala Stadium, U.B. Mallya Indoor Stadium, Yemmekere Swimming Pool, Ambedkar Bhavan, Nehru Maidan, the auditorium of the Karnataka State Government Workers Association, and Marena Indoor Sports Complex. In Udupi, the events will be held at MJC Maidan in Manipal, District Stadium in Ajjarkadu, K.G. Road, Hockey Ground Manipal End Point, and at Swarna river at Brahmavar.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event at Mangala Stadium in Mangaluru at 5 p.m. on January 17. Home Minister G. Parameshwara will take part in valedictory function to be held in Udupi on January 23.
The event will start with football matches, which will be held at Nehru Maidan from January 17 to 22. Also, the netball matches will be held at Mangala Stadium, weightlifting events at Ambedkar Bhavan, and kayaking in the Swarna at Alavekodi, Brahmavar, in Udupi, from January 17 to 19. The wushu event will be held at the Karnataka State Government Employees Association’s auditorium in Mangaluru on January 17 and 18.
Hockey matches will be held from January 18 to 23 at the hockey ground of Manipal End Point. The lawn tennis events will be held for five days from January 18 in Manipal, while table tennis matches will also be held in Manipal for four days from January 18. Boxing matches will be held for three days from January 18 at the basketball ground of the Udupi district stadium. Fencing events will be held at the U.B. Mallya Indoor Stadium, archery at MJC Maidan, and kushti at Tennis Ground of Udupi district stadium, on January 18 and 19.
Swimming events will be held at Yemmekere Swimming Pool Complex from January 19 to 21, while kabaddi events will be held for four days from January 19 at Udupi District Stadium. The cycling event will be held on K.G. Road/Beach Road in Udupi on January 19.
Basketball events will be held at U.S. Mallya Indoor Stadium and volleyball at Mangala Stadium for four days from January 20. Taekwondo events will be held from January 20 to 22 at the Karnataka State Government Employees Association’s auditorium.
