TGMC uncovers serious violations in Chengicherla area, including unqualified individuals treating patients illegally at hospitals and clinics.
During an inspection at multiple hospitals and clinics in Chengicherla area of Uppal, officials from the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) uncovered serious violations, including unqualified individuals illegally treating patients and registered doctors failing to adhere to regulations.
Inspections conducted at Bhavishya Well Wishers Hospital revealed that the hospital was registered under the name of Dr. Gautami with the District Medical and Health Office (DMHO) in June 2023. However, after a brief tenure, Dr. Gautami left to pursue post-graduate studies at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). “In her absence, the hospital administrator, A. Ramesh, falsely assumed the role of a doctor, installing signage for various medical departments, including general surgery and general medicine, and treating patients without any qualified medical professionals on staff,” said a TGMC member.
TGMC officials have registered a case against Ramesh and said that a show-cause notice will be issued to Dr. Gautami for failing to cancel her hospital registration while pursuing higher education, which is against regulations.
Further inspections in the area exposed another fraudulent practitioner, Gunapati Sai Babu, the administrator of SLNS First Aid Centre. It was discovered that he was illegally administering antibiotics and steroid injections beyond prescribed limits and conducting unauthorised laboratory tests. A case has been registered against him under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.
Additionally, the team investigated complaints against Dr. G. Anil Kumar, an MBBS doctor and government medical officer, who operates Pulse Health Clinic. Dr. Anil Kumar, while legally holding an MBBS degree, was found to be practicing as a general physician without the necessary permissions from the DMHO office. TGMC officials said that the doctor obstructed the inspection. In response, a letter of reprimand will be issued to Dr. Anil Kumar and the matter has been referred to the DMHO for further action.
