Yashoda Hospitals hosts international conference on EBUS for accurate diagnosis of respiratory diseases, benefiting patients nationwide.
With respiratory diseases on the rise, early and accurate diagnosis has become crucial in improving patient outcomes. Addressing this need, Yashoda Hospitals in collaboration with the Indian Association of Bronchology, organised an international conference and live workshop on Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) and advanced lung cancer treatments. The saw participation of over 500 pulmonologists from across South India, along with 50 national and international faculty members.
EBUS is a bronchoscopic procedure that allows pulmonologists to visualise lung abnormalities and obtain precise biopsy samples using an ultrasound probe. This technique plays a critical role in diagnosing diseases such as lung cancer and tuberculosis, which remain widespread in India.
Dr. G. S. Rao, Managing Director of Yashoda Hospitals, after inaugurating the event said, “EBUS has become a first-line investigation for conditions such as tuberculosis, sarcoidosis and lung cancer. It helps assess tumour spread within the chest and has evolved with newer needles, scopes and biopsy techniques.”
Dr. V. Nagarjuna Maturu, Senior Pulmonologist and Organising Secretary, highlighted the hospital’s expertise in the field. “Our team at Yashoda Hitech City has been performing EBUS for over 12 years, with more than 2,000 procedures conducted so far. This conference aimed to equip pulmonologists with the latest skills and knowledge, ultimately benefiting patients across the country,” he stated.
