Telangana United Christians and Pastors Association urges Chief Minister to address community demands, including representation and burial grounds.
A delegation of Telangana United Christians and Pastors Association (TUCPA) called on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the Assembly on Wednesday and urged him to fulfil the long pending demands of the community.
Led by TUCPA General Secretary Goneh Solomon Raj and others, the delegation urged the government to consider Christian minorities in the BC ‘C’ in BC Act. They urged the government to give representation to the people from Protestant denomination of the Christian minority community in the nominated and party positions.
The delegation appealed to the Chief Minister to allot lands for the Christian burial grounds across the State and consider charging ₹5 per unit energy charges for religious places. They also sought the government’s intervention in providing monthly honorarium to the pastors.
Mr. Revanth Reddy responded positively to the plea and directed party MLAs — A Laxman Kumar and Dr. Kavampalli Satyanarayana — to gather data of eligible pastors for payment of honorarium. Advisor to Government Vem Narender Reddy was also present.
