Minister Bangarappa invites JD(S) MLA to join Congress, emphasizing seizing opportunities for progress and prioritizing education over temples.
Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa invited JD(S) MLA Sharada Puryanaik of Shivamogga Rural to join the Congress by citing the proverb “make hay while the sun shines”.
Mr. Madhu Bangarappa, who is also the minister in charge of Shivamogga district, participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony for the repair of the Barehalla dam at Purdal near Shivamogga on Sunday.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister asked the JD(S) to make a decision. “My father keeps referring to the proverb make hay while the sun shines. In other words, make good use of the opportunity available. Our party is in power. I wish she (JD(S) MLA) thinks over it,” he said. In a lighter vein, he also asked the people of Purdal to put pressure on her to join the Congress by staging protests in front of her house.
Further, the Minister said that he would make efforts to get funds for development works in the village. Reacting to appeals for funds to build temples, he urged to keep the temples small and ensure schools get all the benefits. “The almighty will bless us no matter how big or small a temple is. However, we need to concentrate on building schools that help our children,” he said.
MLA Sharada Puryanaik and others were present at the programme.
