CPI(M) State secretary Shanmugam releases official invitation for 24th party congress to be held in Madurai

CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan, and CPI(M) Central Committee member U. Vasuki, along with other senior party functionaries, hereon Wednesday (March 26, 2025) released the official invitation for the 24th CPI(M) party congress to be held in Madurai from April 2 to 6, 2025.
CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan, and CPI(M) Central Committee member U. Vasuki, along with other senior party functionaries, on Wednesday (March 26, 2025) released the official invitation for the 24th CPI(M) party congress to be held in Madurai from April 2 to 6, 2025.
To mark the beginning of the national event, on April 1, senior journalist and Director of The Hindu Group N. Ram and senior leader V. Parameswaran will inaugurate exhibitions on the party’s journey over the years, women’s role in the freedom movement, ‘faces of fascism’, and a book fair.
On the same day, martyrs’ memorial torches — ‘Tyagi’ Singaravelar martyrs’ memorial torch, Salem prison martyrs’ memorial torch, Covai Chinniyampalayalam martyrs’ memorial torch, student martyrs’ Somu, Sembu memorial torch, and Madurai martyrs’ memorial torch — brought from various districts will be handed over to the functionaries at the venue.
On April 2, following the cultural events in the morning, the Venmani martyrs’ memorial red flag will be hoisted by senior CPI(M) leader Biman Basu. After this, a general conference meeting headed by former Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar is scheduled from 10.30 a.m. Central Committee member K. Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau coordinator Prakash Karat, CPI general secretary D. Raja, CPI(M-L) liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) general secretary Manoj Bhattacharya, All India Forward Bloc general secretary G. Devarajan, and MP Su. Venkatesan will speak at the conference.
The delegates conference will be held from the afternoon of April 2 to the afternoon of April 6. On all days of the event, various cultural programmes like theatre plays and musical events, among others, and speeches by actors, directors, and orators will take place in the evenings at the open ground of Tamukkam convention centre.
On April 3, a special conference titled ‘Federalism is India’s strength’ (Kootatchi Thathuvame Indiyavin Valimai) is to be held. While Mr. Balakrishnan is to head the event, senior leaders like Prakash Karat, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, and Karnataka Minister of Revenue Krishna Byre Gowda will deliver special addresses.
On the last day of the event, Vachathi fighters will flag off the ‘Red Comrade Parade’, in which more than 25,000 party cadre, clad in red uniforms, will march through the city.
