‘Discharging poll duty with integrity ensures successful election’

Speaking at the National Voters’ Day programme in Dharwad on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner said that because of the dedicated poll officials and staff in the country, every election was being conducted successfully. Emphasising the significance of everyone exercising their franchise without fail, she called on everyone who had turned 17 to apply for voter registration so that on turning 18 they would be included in the voters’ list making them eligible to vote.
Ms. Prabhu said that with 99 crore voters, India was the largest and strongest democracy in the world and called on eligible voters to make use of the Voter Helpline App (mobile application) launched by the Election Commission to register their names.
Senior Civil Judge P.F. Doddmani stated that the electoral system complemented the system of governance given by the people and governments initiated measures to protect people’s interests. He suggested conducting more awareness programmes on voting.
Superintendent of Police Gopal Byakod emphasised the value and importance of every vote, urging youth to actively participate in elections and register as voters upon turning 18.
Registrar of Karnatak University A. Channappa said that every voter should actively involve oneself in the electoral process to strengthen the parliamentary system of democracy.
District Election Ambassador and international para rifle shooter Jyoti Sannakki elaborated on the facilities made available to differently-abled persons during elections and stressed the need for achieving cent per cent voting in every election.
