D. Nageshwar Reddy awarded Padma Vibhushan for contribution in medicine

Hyderabad gastroenterologist Dr. Nageshwar Reddy receives Padma Vibhushan for contributions to medicine, joining seven recipients in 2025.
Hyderabad-based gastroenterologist D. Nageshwar Reddy has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, for 2025. The award recognises his contributions to the field of medicine. Dr. Reddy is one of the seven individuals to receive the Padma Vibhushan this year.
Mr. Reddy, who serves as the Chairman of AIG Hospitals was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.
The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service across various fields, including art, social work, public affairs, medicine and more. The awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are conferred by the President of India in ceremonial function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, typically around March or April.
Reflecting on the honour, Mr. Nageshwar Reddy said, “Compassionate patient care has always been the cornerstone of my journey, and I dedicate this honour to every individual who places their trust in us during their most vulnerable moments. I firmly believe that healthcare is not just about curing illness, but about serving humanity with dignity and empathy”.
