Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticizes Congress-ruled States for failing to fulfill promises, alleging corruption and mismanagement.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday, January 2, said the situation in the Congress-ruled States has been in stark contrast with the promises made by party leader Rahul Gandhi of opening Mohabbat ki Dukaan (shop of love) and instant distribution of facilities.
Holding New and Renewable Energy portfolio, Mr. Joshi was in Mangaluru to inaugurate an awareness workshop on Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme. He told reporters here that in Karnataka, the Congress has opened a ‘shop of suicides and murders’. Instead of distributing monetary facilities to beneficiaries, government functionaries swindled money from the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, he alleged.
Continuing, Mr. Joshi said funds earmarked for SC/ ST development were diverted to spend on the guarantee schemes of the government. The Chief Minister and many Ministers were facing several charges of corruption, maladministration and misuse of power, he said.
Mr. Joshi said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been adamant in not demitting the office despite the High Court stating that irregularities committed in his wife’s name would not have occurred without his notice. Minister Priyank Kharge has stooped to low levels and was issuing statements unbecoming to the office he was holding. In such a situation, one could not expect Mr. Siddaramaiah getting Mr. Kharge’s resignation. Yet, the BJP would continue its campaign to create awareness among people about the irregularities being committed by the Congress government, Mr. Joshi said.
Speaking about the party affairs, Mr. Joshi said elections to choose office bearers from the booth level to the national level would be conducted in phases. There was no rule that the incumbent president should not get elected again.
MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, D. Vedavyas Kamath and Harish Poonja, MLAs, Ravi Kumar, MLC, Satish Kumpala, District BJP president and others were present.
