Collector inspects tribal development projects in Pechiparai

Kanniyakumari Collector oversees development projects in Pechiparai region, ensuring basic amenities and housing for tribal community.
Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeena recently inspected the ongoing development projects in the Pechiparai region for the benefit of tribal people.
During the inspection, the Collector interacted with the members of the tribal community and discussed the issuance of free pattas. She said that all the eligible beneficiaries would receive the pattas under the Forest Right Act.
Ms. Alagumeena directed the officials concerned to provide all basic amenities such as transportation, electricity, medical insurance, old age pensions, smart cards, community certificates to those in need without delay. She also assured that necessary steps will be taken to build concrete houses under the “Kalaignar Kanavu Illam” scheme.
The Collector later reviewed the construction of an elevated bridge between Modhiramalai-Kutriyar region. The bridge is being constructed at a cost of ₹5 crore, where 30% work has been completed. The new bridge is being constructed to replace the dilapidated footbridge currently in use.
She also inspected the site selected for the construction of Tribal Livelihood Centre in Pechiparai and urged the officials to expedite the submission of project proposal along with detailed plans and designs. The project is being developed under the Special Area Development Programme.
