The awareness campaign will focus on programmes and initiatives for community animals by the BBMP, educating people on legal provisions concerning animals, Dos and Don’ts for citizens.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) launched an awareness campaign at 250 locations across the city to educate citizens about community animals.
Under the theme Public Health Through Animal Welfare, the Animal Husbandry Department of the BBMP inaugurated the campaign near Dr. Rajkumar’s Glass House at BBMP head office on January 16. The initiative aims to promote coexistence with community animals and foster awareness among citizens.
The awareness campaign will focus on programmes and initiatives for community animals by the BBMP, educating people on legal provisions concerning animals, Dos and Don’ts for citizens.
The initiative will highlight the need for proactive citizen participation to prevent harm to community animals and necessity for harmonious coexistence, and urges people to treat animals with compassion and respect.
The campaign will cover 250 locations within the BBMP limits, with a symbolic launch at the BBMP central office. Citizens can get details on the Animal Husbandry Department’s Instagram handle, @bbmp_animalhusbandry.
In all eight zones of the city, street plays and dance performances will be organised to create awareness among citizens. Additionally, informational leaflets will be distributed to amplify the campaign’s reach.
The campaign will highlight strict legal measures under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyana Sanhita on relocating animals, denying them food or water, killing, or causing injury.
