Treat children with humanity, officials tell care home organisers in A.P.

Juvenile Welfare officers trained to provide better care and protection for children in Child Care Institutions and Sishu Gruhas.
Officers of the Juvenile Welfare and Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) have asked the heads and staff of Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and the State-run Sishu Gruhas to look after the children staying in the homes with humanity.
The Principal Secretary, WD&CW, Senior Citizens and Juvenile Welfare, A. Surya Kumar, who participated in a two-day training programme for Juvenile Welfare Department officers on Mission Vatsalya Scheme and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, on Friday asked the staff to acquire knowledge on the schemes and serve the children better.
Juvenile Welfare Director M. Venugopal Reddy said the District Probation Officers (DPOs), District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs), Mission Sakthi, Protection Officers and other officials should focus on building convergence to protect the children staying in homes.
“Whether a child comes under Child in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP), Non-CNCP, semi-orphans or orphans, all children should be treated equally and provided proper care and protection,” Mr. Venugopal Reddy said.
The training was organised by UNICEF in association with the government, said WD&CW Joint Directors Vijaya and Sirisha. Later, the Director presented birth certificates to the children.
Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF Sonykutty George, programme manager David Raj, Juvenile Welfare Joint Director Madhusudhan Rao, Observation Home for Boys Superintendent Rammohan Reddy and other officers who participated in the training programme explained the amendments to the JJ Act, the role of the stakeholders and the provisions of various schemes meant for child protection.
