‘Hindi has the potential to gain global prominence’

Graduates urged to be Hindi ambassadors at Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha convocation, emphasizing language's global potential.
Hindi has made all the other languages its own, which is an important aspect of the language, said Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal. He was speaking at the 83rd Convocation of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha held here on Saturday.
“The Hindi language is in all our hearts. It awakens the humaneness of people. This should be our commitment to the language,” he said.
A total of 5,300 graduates from Tamil Nadu, 1,580 from Kerala, and 1,820 from Andhra Pradesh received their degree certificates at the convocation.
A total of 3,000 people from the city received their degree certificates and 30 received their Ph.Ds.
Urging the graduates to become ambassadors of Hindi, Mr. Sonowal said the language had the potential to gain global prominence.
“You must become ambassadors of Hindi and show the world its beauty,” he said.
V. Muraleedharan, former Union Minister and president of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, said: “There is diversity in our languages, but we are still one nation. The one thing that could unite us through language could be Hindi.”
