Telangana to introduce new clean energy policy to meet rising energy demands sustainably, aiming for 20,000 MW renewable capacity by 2030.
Telangana is set to introduce a new ‘clean and green energy policy’ to address its increasing energy demands sustainably.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramakra, who holds the energy portfolio, said, “The State’s peak power demand is projected to rise significantly from 15,623 MW in 2023-24 to 20,968 MW by 2027-28 and further to 31,809 MW by 2034-35. Correspondingly, energy requirements are expected to grow from 85,644 million units (MUs) in 2023-24 to 1,15,347 MUs by 2027-28 and 1,50,040 MUs by 2034-35. To meet this demand, the Telangana government has set an ambitious target of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.”
The proposed policy aligns with the State’s commitment to clean energy and supports the national vision for sustainable power development. As part of the initiative, a stakeholders’ convention will be held on January 3,2025 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Hyderabad. The event will bring together key stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on strategies and implementation plans for the policy.
