Centre plans to open 27,000 Jan Aushadi Kendras by 2027: Yaduveer

MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar promotes Jan Aushadi Kendras offering affordable generic medicines, aiming for 27,000 centers by 2027.
MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said that Jan Aushadi Kendras are benefitting a large number of people as they are providing quality generic medicines at affordable prices. As a result, the Union government has proposed to establish 27,000 aushadi kendras by the end of 2027.
Speaking during the Jan Aushadi Diwas held at the K.R. Hospital here recently, Mr. Yaduveer said a lot of awareness drives have been conducted on the generic medicines that are available at the kendras.
The people have benefitted from the facility as they are able to save a lot of money by buying generic drugs at affordable prices, he said.
Medicines for diabetes, hypertension, acidity, and other ailments are available at all the Jan Aushadi Kendras, he added.
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute Dean and Director K.R. Dakshayani, DHO Kumaraswamy, and others were present.
“Jan Aushadhi Diwas” is celebrated on March 7 to raise awareness about the initiative and promote the use of generic medicines. As part of the campaign, week-long events were organised from March 1 to 7 to support the enterprise.
The “Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana“ was launched in November 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in collaboration with Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the public through Jan Aushadi Kendras.
