Work on construction of sewage treatment plant begins in Thuraiyur

Tiruchi Member of Parliament K.N. Arun Nehru on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of sewage treatment plant in Thuraiyur Municipality.
Perambalur Member of Parliament K.N. Arun Nehru on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of sewage treatment plant (STP) in Thuraiyur Municipality.
Tiruchi Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, Thuraiyur MLA S. Stalin Kumar and senior officials were present.
The STP, with an installed capacity of treating million litres of sewage water daily, is estimated to cost ₹9.5 crore. It will come up at Sorathur Road on a piece of land owned by the Thuraiyur Municipality.
The project is aimed at preventing the untreated sewage collected from the households and open sewage drains from flowing into Chinna Eri. The STP will be established under the sludge drying bed, a popular method for sludge dewatering in natural ways of removing water content.
Earlier, Mr. Arun Nehru laid the foundation stone for constructing geo dome hostel and other facilities at Top Sengattupatti on the Pachamalai hills being set up at an estimate of ₹4.26 crore. He inaugurated various projects implemented by the District Rural Development Agency in Uppiliyapuram Panchayat Union.
