Yadgir CMC President ensures improved drinking water supply, addressing concerns and planning for summer crisis effectively.
President of Yadgir City Municipal Council (CMC) Kumari Lalitha Anpur has said that the CMC will put in more efforts to provide drinking water to citizens in all wards that come under its limits with the available water sources and tackle any crisis effectively during the summer.
She was addressing a general body meeting in Yadgir on Saturday after presenting the annual budget for 2025-26.
Ms. Anpur said that the CMC has its own two tankers to supply drinking water to affected areas under its limits. It will also take action to drill new borewell if there is a necessity.
“A grant of ₹15 lakh released last year for drinking water purpose was returned unused. But this time, we will utilise the grants meant for providing drinking water,” she added.
“We are prepared to face any scarcity situation arising during the summer season. At present, the CMC is providing drinking water once every other day from the Bhima river. An official team will be formed to supervise the drinking water issue and ensure that there is no issue with regard to drinking water. Therefore, four new employees have been appointed,” Ms. Anpur said.
The issue came up for discussion after members Hanumanth Nayak, Channakeshavagouda, Ambayya Shabadi, Hanumanth Itagi, Swamidev Dasanakeri, Vilas Patil and Asad Chaus raised it and urged Ms. Anpur to find a solution to it.
Assistant Executive Engineer of CMC Rajanikanth Sringeri said that the Deputy Commissioner has already formed teams only for attending drinking water problems in rural and urban areas.
