BJP Tamil Nadu president accuses Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader of criticizing PM for political gain, discusses party strategy.
BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai on Friday charged Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay is criticising the Prime Minister only to gain political mileage.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Mr. Annamalai said the Tamil Nadu BJP members have been working hard on the ground and were arrested in the last four years, protesting for several issues. “Yesterday we discussed with the Union Railway Minister for bringing a new train service to the State. Today we met the Fisheries Minister and discussed fishermen issues. But Mr. Vijay had come out in public in the last one year, since he launched the party, only three or four times. Mr. Vijay and his party members should understand that politics is not about talking only in the microphone. He is criticising the Prime Minister only to attract the attention of the media,” he alleged.
Responding to a question on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi.K. Palaniswami’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and further political developments, Mr. Annamalai said he also had Mr. Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda and the general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh in the last two days and briefed them about the party’s functioning in Tamil Nadu.
“We all are clear that the 2026 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu is crucial. Still there is time to talk about alliance. Our national-level leaders will talk about alliance at an appropriate time. As a State president, I have conveyed my feedback and views to the leaders. Our objective is to unseat the DMK from power,” he added.
