Vajpayee remembered on his 100th birth anniversary

MP Captain Brijesh Chowta credits former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for inspiring him to serve the country.
Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta said on Wednesday that he as a NCC cadet getting a chance to see former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee prompted him to take a decision to serve the country.
Speaking at the 100th birth anniversary celebration of late Vajpayee at the BJP’s district office Capt. Chowta said that he as a NCC cadet had participated in the Republic Day parade in Delhi. Vajpayee was the Prime Minister then. “I got a chance to see him for about two to three minutes during the parade. His personality impressed me a lot and I decided to serve the country,” the former Captain with the Indian Army who served (Short Service Commission) from 2003 to 2010 said.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLC K. Monappa Bhandary described Vajpayee as “ajathashatru.”
He said that the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the Golden Quadrilateral Project initiated by Vajyapee still remained as models. Vajpayee managed Kargil war effectively and showed the strength of India to the world through Pokhran nuclear test.
Former Mayor Premananda Shetty and others were present.
