Former YSRCP Minister criticizes NDA government for neglecting Uttarandhra teachers, failing to implement welfare schemes, and ignoring Rushikonda Beach.
Former Minister in the YSRCP government Gudivada Amarnath said that the results of the Uttarandhra Teachers MLC elections is a lesson for the NDA government which has implemented anti-public policies. He said that the teachers from Uttarandhra have given the government a shock for neglecting the region and failing to implement the promised welfare schemes, for the past nine months. It is also shameful to see the government announcing the winning candidate as their chosen candidate, unable to accept the defeat, he said.
Addressing a press conference here in the party office on Tuesday, the former minister who is also the YSRCP Visakhapatnam district president, said that, the NDA has earlier announced their support to candidate P Raghu Varma. But after Raghu Varma lost the polls, TDP Minister K Atchannaidu has turned the tables, and declared winning candidate Srinivasula Naidu as their chosen candidate. TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao has organised series of meetings to ensure Raghu Varma wins and he has also posted tweets supporting him in X (formerly Twitter), he said.
“Can any NDA leader show that they have supported Srinivasula Naidu in the polls,” he questioned.
Mr. Amarnath said that out of the total government employees 35 % are teachers. The teachers have clearly shown their opinion on the government with these polls. It is also evident that the Education department led by Minister Nara Lokesh has failed to address the issues pertaining to them, he said.
The YSRCP leader also slammed the NDA government for its alleged negligence on Rushikonda Beach. He pointed out that Rushikonda Beach received ‘Blue Flag Certification’ under the YSRCP government. After coming to power, the NDA government has ignored to maintain it properly, which led to temporary losing of the certification.
Under the YSRCP government, steps were taken up to set up projects such as Bhogapuram Airport, Mulapeta Port, medical colleges at Narsipatnam, Paderu, Vizianagaram, kidney research centre at Uddanam. But under the NDA government, Uttarandhra region is being ignored completely. The government has focus only on ‘Amaravati’, he alleged.
