Hubballi girl selected for ASEAN Astronomy Camp in Thailand

Krushi Menasinakai, a 10th standard student from Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Hubballi, selected for ASEAN Astronomy Camp in Thailand.
Krushi Menasinakai, a 10th standard student from Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Hubballi, has been selected to participate in the ASEAN Astronomy Camp to be held in Thailand from March 11 to 14.
The astronomy camp is hosted by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and International Training Centre in Astronomy under the auspices of UNESCO (ITCA).
The camp is being held at the Princess Sirindhorn Astro Park, Maerim District, and the Astronomy Information and Training Centre, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
It is aimed to bring together secondary school students in the ASEAN region and beyond to share, explore and exchange their passion in Astronomy from the perspective of their culture.
In his letter to Krushi, Executive Director of NARIT, Saran Poshyachinda has said that the participants will get an opportunity to visit laboratories. They will also get to see a 40-m Thai National Radio Telescope and a 2.4-m Thai National Telescope and participate in various activities during the camp.
The participants for the camp in the age group of 15 to 19 are selected based on the essays they wrote on Astronomy.
For the ASEAN Astronomy Camp, 30 students have been chosen out of the total 316 students who applied.

A total of 3,464 pilgrims had registered to participate in the annual festival being held at the famous St. Antony’s Church in Katchatheevu, said organisers here on Tuesday. The church was established by the fishermen of India and Sri Lanka way back in 1913 St. Antony was worshipped as a protector of the fishermen and the fishermen offer prayers at the church as a mark of thanksgiving to the God for proving them good produce.
