Panjagutta traffic police seize ambulance with dogs inside, crack down on unauthorized siren use in Hyderabad.
Panjagutta traffic police conducting a special vehicle-checking drive were in for a surprise on Tuesday (March 4, 2025) when they stopped an ambulance blaring its siren — only to find two dogs in cages inside.
The ambulance was immediately seized, and a case was registered against driver Laxminarayana and vehicle owner Abdul Kalim. Investigations revealed that the dogs were being transported from Himayathnagar to a private hospital in Madinaguda, Miyapur, for a vasectomy procedure.
This incident comes amid a broader crackdown on the unauthorised use of sirens, launched on March 3 to curb public inconvenience. Police officials emphasised that sirens should be used only for life-threatening emergencies, citing that they received multiple complaints about ambulance drivers misusing them and causing public inconvenience.
As part of the drive, another ambulance was seized, and its driver was booked for operating without valid documents. The Hyderabad traffic police proposes to organise a meeting with ambulance owners, drivers, and hospital management to address the increasing misuse of sirens in the city.

These funds will never be used for beneficiaries of other communities, he asserted.
