Union Minister wants to transform every SHG woman into an entrepreneur

Union Minister Jitendra Singh empowers women in SHGs to become entrepreneurs through skill development and e-commerce initiatives in Kadapa.
Union Minister for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh, wants to see every woman member of the self-help group (SHG) transform into a prospective entrepreneur.
As part of his three-day tour of Kadapa district, Mr. Singh interacted with SHG members at Moragudi village in Jammalamadugu constituency on Thursday, along with the local MLA Ch. Adinarayana Reddy and Collector Sridhar Cherukuri. During his interaction, the Union Minister stressed on the importance of strengthening small groups to address problems such as poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment and ensuring gender parity.
Explaining the government’s resolve, he said efforts were being taken to identify enthusiastic women from rural areas, nurture their production and marketing talent through skill upgradation programmes, and introduce them to e-commerce business.
The Minister also held discusseds on food items, spices, brown rice, handloom products and millets with the women. He later inaugurated a central kitchen built at Moragudi Zilla Parishad High School for the benefit of students.
“We have identified some of the best talent from this region, who are making hundreds of products and are now encouraged to become global businesswomen. Kadapa being identified with the aspiration district tag, this is a two-way strategy to ensure rural development and women’s empowerment”, said Collector Sridhar Cherukuri.
Meanwhile Kadapa MLA said that several women were being introduced to launch units pertaining to primary sectors like agriculture, industrial, and food processing. He recalled that his Jammalamadugu constituency had become the power house and reservoir of Kadapa district, having the most number of power plants and prominent water projects.
The Minister also inspected the Ayushman Arogya Mandir (village health clinic and primary health centre) in C.K. Dinne mandal in the morning and visited Gandikota tourism spot at evening.
