Two children die as van rams truck on Coimbatore-Palakkad Road

Two children were crushed to death after a van in which they travelled rammed a stationary truck at K.G.Chavadi near Coimbatore on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as M. Sanjusree,7, daughter of R. Moneeshkumar, 30, of Erode, and her brother M. Mithran, 5.
Moneeshkumar, his wife M. Indumathi, 26, his mother R. Kanchanakumari, 50, V. Ramachandran, 65, of Sasthri Nagar in Erode, his wife Sharika, 55,, their daughters R. Ranjitha, 18, and R. Akshya, 14, were injured. The owner of the van, Naseerali, 35, of Erode, escaped unhurt.
The police said that Ramachandran, along with 10 persons, had gone on a trip to Kozhikode on Saturday. The accident took place around 5.30 a.m. at K.G. Chavadi on Coimbatore-Palakkad Road on Sunday when they were returning to Erode.
According to the police, Moneeshkumar drove the van and it rammed the rear side of a truck that was parked on the side of the road. The truck, laden with casting powder, had reportedly run out of fuel.
The police said the driver of the truck R. Chinnasamy, 44, of Alandurai in Coimbatore district was going to a nearby fuel station when the accident took place.
The police said that Sanjusree and Mithran died on the spot and their bodies were shifted the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. All except Naseerali were admitted to private hospitals. The K.G. Chavadi police registered a case.
