
State-of-the-art blood bank inaugurated in Tirupati

State-of-the-art blood centre with advanced technology and facilities inaugurated at Amara Hospital premises in Renigunta.
A State-of-the-art blood centre was inaugurated at Amara Hospital premises in Renigunta on Saturday by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy and Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, in the presence of the hospital’s chairman Prasad Gourineni and managing director Ramadevi Gourineni.
The new facility is not just a blood bank, but also doubles up into a central laboratory, stem cell and molecular research centre. The blood centre has modern technology and facilities for blood collection, testing, processing and storage.
“Patients can access all procedures, including whole blood, packed cells, saline washed RBC, fresh progen plasma, cryoprecipitate, platelet rich plasma, platelet late concentration, single donor platelets and single donor plasma,” Dr. Ramadevi, who is also a neurologist, told the media.
The 24X7 facility is available not just for hospitalised patients, but also to the general public in requirement of blood-related products. Prasad Gourineni, a paediatric orthopaedic, appealed to the blood donors to donate blood in large numbers as blood-related products were unavailable in sufficient quantities.
