R. Muhilraj achieves 95.88 percentile in JEE Mains 2025 with IGNITTE's guidance, aiming for IIT admission.
In a significant achievement, R. Muhilraj, a student who has been under the guidance of IGNITTE teaching club of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T), has scored 95.88 percentile in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2025.
The student of Arignar Anna Government Higher Secondary School in Pachaperumalpatti village, Thuraiyur, joined the IGNITTE classes in October 2023, when he was in Class XI. His father is a farmer, and mother, a daily wage earner.
His current score makes him eligible to join any NIT. Besides a second attempt on April 7 to improve his score, Mr. Muhilraj will also be preparing for JEE Advanced to try for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), with extra coaching from IGNITTE.
IGNITTE president R. Mouneeswaran, a third-year student of Electronics and Communications Engineering, told The Hindu that while most students scored above 80 percentile through the coaching programme, Mr. Muhilraj was among those who showed a special aptitude for the subjects from an early stage. “He is the fifth or sixth student who has achieved this high score through IGNITTE. We are very proud of him, as of all the other students we have tutored,” he said.
IGNITTE is a team of NIT-T students who train economically disadvantaged students for competitive entrance exams and help them analyse career opportunities.
Over 400 senior school-goers participate annually in the screening tests organised in collaboration with the district administrations of Tiruchi and Tirunelveli. At the end of the two-day process, which includes a written test followed by a personal interview, only 20 students from each district are selected for the coaching programme.
IGNITTE’s approach emphasises continuous examination with regular problem-solving sessions. These sessions are held offline at the NIT-T campus approximately once every two weeks, supplemented by online classes for flexibility and convenience.
