The central districts on Wednesday registered a slight dip in fresh cases of COVID-19 when compared to the previous day. The region reported 2,956 fresh cases and three deaths. Two of the deceased patients hailed from Tiruvarur and one from Tiruchi, according to the bulletin issued by the State Health Department.
While both Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts continued to report a high number of cases, the numbers witnessed a decline on Wednesday. A total of 805 patients reported positive in Thanjavur, while Tiruchi reported 684 cases.
The girl, who was admitted to Aster CMI Hospital with alarming breathlessness and significant pallor, was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis (now known as Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis or GPA), a rare autoimmune condition that causes spontaneous bleeding in the lungs, leading to acute respiratory failure.
