Backward Classes Welfare Minister criticizes Union Minister's 'Ramzan gift' comment after MLC election victory, questions BJP's contribution to Telangana.
Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s comments of ‘Ramzan gift’ to the Congress after winning two out of the three MLC elections were immature and lack political understanding.
Mr. Prabhakar said Mr. Sanjay should remember that he was a Union Minister and such comments reflect his personality and also of the party he represents. The victory was not so huge and this was due to the association of the BJP and the BRS, which did not field any candidates to help the BJP.
The Minister further asked BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and MLA T. Harish Rao to explain whom they voted for in the elections. Both the parties colluded and this political tie-up was being observed by the Telangana society. Stating that victory and defeat in elections are part of the democratic process and the Congress would review it soon, he said the defeat will not have any impact on Telangana politics as of now.
Mr. Prabhakar asked the BJP Union Ministers to get funds from the Centre to prove their worth as the Centre was discriminating against Telangana without sanctioning projects or releasing funds that were due. He sought to know when the construction of an eight-lane highway from Ramagundam to Hyderabad will begin. He also criticised Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy and said he should question himself on his contribution to Telangana when he was the Union Tourism Minister in the previous NDA government.
