Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said here on Wednesday that the police and civil society should cooperate and work together to reduce crime and establish a better society.
She was speaking after flagging off a run held as part of crime prevention week. The Commissioner said apart from creating awareness on crime and crime prevention, the run was also an endeavour to promote physical fitness.
She said though the job of the police was to investigate, detect and prevent crime, public should also join hands and cooperate with the Police Department.
Ms. Latkar stressed the imperatives of greater awareness on the type of crimes taking place in society and maintain utmost vigil. “If one adopts an attitude that it does not concern me, then it is a fallacy as you could be the next victim of crime,” she cautioned.
She urged the public to be in touch with the police and help them which would result in establishing a better society. The run was organised as part of crime prevention week and to create greater awareness in public about crime.
