Panchayat Secretaries stage demonstration in Dindigul

Tamil Nadu Panchayat Secretaries Association demands pension scheme inclusion and service benefits, threatens intensified protests in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Panchayat Secretaries Association on Wednesday staged a demonstration in Dindigul pressing for the charter of demands. They urged the State government to fulfil their demands.
The association members said that the main demand of the members was the inclusion of panchayat secretaries drawing a timescale in the pension scheme. The members demanded that the service benefits extended to the record clerks in the panchayat union should also be extended to them.
The members said that if their demands were not met, they would be intensifying the protests. They said that they have planned protests in Chennai to draw the attention of the government.

After Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured protesting members that he would call a meeting of legislators after the Budget session to look into their problems, the BJP and Janata Dal (S) withdrew their dharna in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday on the issue of releasing honorarium from the State exchequer for Congress workers involved in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes.
