KCR’s gift to Telangana are huge debts: CM
The Hindu
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticizes KCR's government for financial mismanagement and promises to prioritize education and job creation.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the State’s financial situation, linking it to the famous Hyderabadi proverb ‘Uper sherwani, andar pareshani’ (used to describe poverty masked with a good dress), and attributed the precarious financial situation to the BRS regime that he inherited with unbelievable debts.
The loans borrowed by K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s government are eating away the State’s revenues and despite giving this ‘gift’ to Telangana, KCR and his family are blaming the government for speaking the truth on finances, the Chief Minister said. “I need to speak about the cancer spread in the form of debts in Telangana,” he said while speaking at a programme where he handed over appointment letters to the newly recruited 1,292 junior lecturers and 240 polytechnic lecturers.
Hitting out at the BRS for stating that he doesn’t have the stature, the Chief Minister said the BRS was on a stretcher and if it continues like this it would end up in a mortuary. He accused KCR’s family members of spreading lies and wanting him to step down within 10 months as they are unable to digest their ouster.
Mr. Reddy alleged that the previous government failed the unemployed youth wasting 12 precious years of their life but the Congress government filled up 55,000 jobs in the first year of assuming power.
Expressing his concern over the dwindling student enrolment in government schools, he appealed to the teaching community to think about it seriously. The government feels spending on students is an investment for the future but all the stakeholders need to seriously look into the falling numbers. Mr. Reddy said the government wants Telangana to be a highly skilled State and referred to the allocation of ₹11,000 crore for setting up 55 Young India Integrated Schools.

After Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured protesting members that he would call a meeting of legislators after the Budget session to look into their problems, the BJP and Janata Dal (S) withdrew their dharna in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday on the issue of releasing honorarium from the State exchequer for Congress workers involved in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes.
