
No spraying colours on pedestrians: Mumbai police issues advisory for Holi celebrations

Mumbai police issue Holi celebration advisory to maintain public peace, forbidding color sprinkling and obscene behavior in public.
Mumbai police issued an advisory on Wednesday (March 12, 2025), concerning the rules and restrictions during the Holi celebration for maintaining public peace and safety in the city from March 12 till March 18.
According to the order, the advisory forbids citizens from sprinkling colours on pedestrians and singing obscene songs or utterances in public in order to prevent any incident of communal tension and breach of public peace.
Akbar Pathan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) issued the advisory, mentioning the violation of any restrictions will be booked under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.
The restrictions include use of gestures or mimetic representations, exhibition of pictures, symbols, placards which may offend the dignity, decency, or morality of an individual, throwing of balloons filled with any liquid.

After Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured protesting members that he would call a meeting of legislators after the Budget session to look into their problems, the BJP and Janata Dal (S) withdrew their dharna in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday on the issue of releasing honorarium from the State exchequer for Congress workers involved in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes.
