IGNCA regional centre opened in Tiruchanur

IGNCA and NSU collaborate to open 10th regional center in Tiruchanur, promoting Indian cultural arts and Sanskrit traditions.
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), in collaboration with the National Sanskrit University (NSU), Tirupati, inaugurated its 10th regional centre in Tiruchanur on Wednesday. The building was donated by Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Iyengar, the first Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.
The relics of Agastya Maharishi, who united the north and south regions, and his statue were brought from Varanasi and placed in an exhibition named as Agastya Maharishi Exhibition. The chief guest on the occasion, Sachchidananda Joshi, member-secretary, IGNCA, said that IGNCA is a great platform for promoting Indian cultural arts, especially Vaishnavism and sculpture.
He explained that this regional centre was launched here as a centre for the Telugu States, in collaboration with the NSU, with the important goal of increasing interest in these arts among the modern generation.
Later, G.S.R. Krishnamurthy, NSU Vice-Chancellor, said that this centre will make it possible to provide the modern world with the arts, music, and dance education that are currently hidden in Sanskrit. He explained that Indian cultural traditions are especially enshrined in the Sanskrit language. He informed that the university works with the aim of providing literary education along with arts. Special thanks to IGNCA for showing interest in setting up a regional centre in Tiruchanur, he added.

After Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured protesting members that he would call a meeting of legislators after the Budget session to look into their problems, the BJP and Janata Dal (S) withdrew their dharna in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday on the issue of releasing honorarium from the State exchequer for Congress workers involved in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes.
