Devotees take holy dip in Mahamaham tank during Maasi Maham festival in Kumbakonam, with processional deities and temple cars.
Devotees in large numbers took a holy dip in the ‘Mahamaham’ tank at Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district on Wednesday on the occasion of ‘Maasi Maham’.
The processional deities of 10 Shiva temples in Kumbakonam town with ‘panchamurthis’ were brought in a holy procession from the respective temple to the Mahamaham tank.
‘Abhishekam’ was performed to the ‘Asthra Devar’ and ‘theerthavaari’ was held. Devotees who had gathered in large numbers took a holy dip in the Mahamaham tank at that moment. Deeparadhana was performed to the processional deities following which they were all taken back to the respective temple.
In connection with ‘Maasi Maham’, the decorated temple cars of Sri Sakkarapaniswamy temple, Sri Rajagopalaswamy temple and Sri Aadhi Varaha Perumal temple were pulled by devotees in Kumbakonam.
