Over 20,000 candidates appear for Plus Two exam in Tirunelveli district

Over 20,000 candidates in Tirunelveli district write Plus Two public examination in 73 centres with strict supervision.
The Plus Two public examination commenced in 73 examination centres in the district on Monday as more than 20,000 candidates write the final examination till March 25.
In Tirunelveli district, 19,816 students including 8,921 boys and 10,895 girls are taking the final examination. Another 416 private candidates also write the public examination to take the total number of candidates from Tirunelveli district to 20,312 who write the examinations in 73 examination centres including 28 government schools, 38 governmnet-aided schools, 6 private schools and Palayamkottai Central Prison.
District Collector R. Sukumar visited Mary Sargent Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai to inspect the conduct of the public examination.
“The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all examination centres. Armed police protection is being given to the vehicles carrying question papers to the examination centres and the vehicles taking answer scripts. While over 2,000 invigilators have been involved in the examination duty, 110 static squads and 7 flying squads were also in the duty to check malpractices,” he said.
Chief Educational Officer Sivakumar accompanied the District Collector during the inspection.
Women teachers posted at Schaffter Higher Secondary School near Tirunelveli Corporation Office, an examination centre for boys, said that it would be ideal to post male staff here for effective supervision..
In Tenkasi district, 16,961 students including 7,892 boys and 9,069 girls are appearing for the Plus Two public examination in 66 centres across the district.
